Shawnee Township Cemetery Association is a longstanding provider of burial services and maintenance for the local community. With a focus on respectful and dignified care of the deceased, the association offers a range of burial options and upkeep services for families in need. The mausoleum at Shawnee Cemetery has crypts and niches available, and our Tranquility Garden offers a calming, scenic atmosphere that helps with grief and emotional well-being.

Tranquility Garden
Located in the peaceful north end of Shawnee Cemetery, our Tranquility Garden features a beautiful natural setting that provides families with affordable and meaningful options for honoring loved ones. Choices include scattering cremains with names engraved on a granite monument, or inurnment with engraved pillars and boulders. As cremation becomes more common, the Tranquility Garden gives families a tranquil, private place to reflect and find closure. Wreaths Across America
Shawnee Cemetery is proud to be part of the national Wreaths Across America program which honors local heroes. On December 13, 2025, more than 600 wreaths were placed on the graves of those who served, along with ceremonial wreaths for each branch of the military, first responders, POWs, MIAs and Gold Star Mothers. Ohio National Guard Brigadier General Matthew Woodruff from the Ohio National Guard was the guest speaker, encouraging those in attendance to reflect on the sacrifice of those being honored.

United Way Day of Caring
The United Way Day of Caring was held September 11, 2026. The VFFM Tombstone Project came out along with employees from Trisco Systems, Mercy Health, General Dynamics, Grob, Woof Boom Radio, and PASS. They cleaned 304 monuments and reset 6.

Shawnee Township Veteran And First Responder Memorial
The dedication of the Shawnee Township Veterans and First Responders Memorial was held July 4, 2026, the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This memorial stands proudly at the front entrance of the cemetery and is a constant reminder of the deep roots of Shawnee Township. This cemetery was established in 1840, and it’s the final resting place of many of our community’s founding families. It felt right that right here where our history began, we build a memorial to the heroes who protect our future- our veterans and first responders.
This project was funded by our community families and businesses and all the money collected was managed and dispersed by The Chained Eagles of Ohio a 501 (c)(3).
To our veterans, who stood in foreign lands, answered the call of duty, and carried the burden of our freedom: This space is yours. And to our firefighters and first responders, who defend our community, run toward the danger of keeping us safe: This space is yours. This memorial is our permanent promise that your sacrifice, bravery and love for this country will never be forgotten.
But more than anything, this memorial is a reminder for the next generation. We built this so that years from now, when our children and grandchildren walk past this memorial, they feel proud to be an American. They will know exactly who kept them safe and what it means to be free.
