Shawnee Township Road Department

The Shawnee Township Road Department is tasked with the responsibility of maintaining and improving the township’s infrastructure which is comprised of almost 80 miles of roadway. The road department consists of 5 employees and a fleet of 6 trucks. During the spring/summer months the road department is busy mowing side ditches, road right-of-way and properties owned by the township. Storm drains and minor road repairs are also done during spring/summer. The Road Department is also responsible for maintaining road signage throughout the township. The annual road program to maintain and improve roads is also carried out in spring/summer. Starting in mid-April through the end of October, brush is picked up on Thursdays and/or Fridays. Starting the 1st of November, we start picking up leaves. We do two complete rounds through the township ending by the end of November so our equipment can be converted to handle the snow.

Leaf and brush pickup are available for Shawnee Township residents only; no contractors. Leaves and small debris need to be bagged. Residents may also bring their brush to the township brush pile behind the Road Department.

During winter months the Road Department is busy with snow removal and salting roadway to ensure safety and accessibly of all township roadways.
